The founder of M2 Television, Bill Cullen, is expected to finalise a deal this week in which he will step down as a company director, writes Sam Espensen.

Cullen, who holds the position of chairman, will retain a 20% shareholding in the company he founded in 1988.

No one would disclose reasons for his departure, but Cullen said: "M2 is a great

company with some fantastic people so it is unfortunate that I will no longer be a part of bringing M2 forward into what are undoubtedly exciting times."

The post industry has been shocked at his departure. Molinare managing director Mark Foligno said: "Bill is a great character in a great industry. I for one will miss his honesty, his passion and his down-to-earth attitude about everything."

M2, which has recent credits including POW for ITV1 and Ballet Boyz for Channel 4, is based in Ingestre Court in London.
