Following the closure of broadcast equipment reseller McMillan last week, Mitcorp UK has announced that it is to set up a subsidiary to fill the gap in the regional market left by the company's demise.

Mitcorp Digital Media will have offices around the country, and as well as supplying and servicing broadcast hardware, the new arm will also offer software and IT products.

In total, six ex-McMillan staff have been hired for the new venture. Mark Forth was McMillan broadcast division director and will become sales director for the new arm. He said: "In the past, many regional customers have had to make the difficult choice between local service or the lowest price, but the new regional service we offer means they get the best of both."

Mitcorp managing director Simon Meikle added: "We were only able to offer part of the picture before, now we are able to provide an all-encompassing technical solution. And we can offer substantially improved regional support with the clear benefits of the economies of scale a successful business such as ours can bring."

Mitcorp is one of the only broadcast distributors to provide complete systems and solutions from acquisition to final output - "glass to glass" as it's known in the industry. Mitcorp Digital Media will sell new products including Sonic Solutions DVD authoring systems and Avid Xpress's Pro non-linear systems.
