London-based Arena Digital and Mixdown Audio have both opened new audio suites in the past few weeks, writes Barbara Marshall.

Both firms have chosen the industry standard Pro Tools from Digidesign.

Mixdown Audio has opened its second suite at Input Video Facilities in Shepherds Bush and hopes the move will help it expand into broadcast post-production work.

The firm was set up less than a year ago by sound engineers Kevin Duff, Cliff Hughes and Iain Russell, whose credits range from I'm A Celebrity? Get Me Out of Here!and SMTV Liveto awards shows such as The National Music Awardsand The Disney Awards. However, commercial director Iain Russell said the team was now offering an end-to-end package. 'As well as handling the live end we are hoping to attract audio post-production work and follow the projects through,' he said.

Prompted by client demand, Arena Digital has added two suites to its new Newman Street premises which will work alongside the existing suite. Tyrell supplied the systems.

Arena Digital is part of the Television Set Group, which bought the former Atlantic 252 building in Newman Street 18 months ago.
