Nickelodeon UK will complete the installation of its end-to-end tapeless post-production and transmission facility next month with the addition of content storage management software from Front Porch Digital.

Having installed a Publitronic transmission system earlier in the year (Broadcast 29.01.09), the kids broadcaster has since rolled out Apple Final Cut Server asset management and Signiant content distribution software as it moves towards making its network completely digital.

The installation of Front Porch Digital’s DIVarchive technology will allow the management of content from the digital library to transmission via post-production.

Remi Abayomi, VP, operations director, said: “[The new set-up] transforms the way we deliver and receive information internally and externally, improving the workflow with post-production houses. Our in-house engineering team has integrated these software systems in a cost-effective and highly efficient way.”

The digital library will house 50i files for post-production, 7,500 hours of 10Mb files for final transmission and proxy files to enable staff to preview material on their desktops.
