NAB 2015: Object Matrix will introduce new features and pricing models for its nearline storage products at NAB.

The Cardiff-based firm’s MatrixStore now enables applications using its API to access statistical and audit information that was previously only available through the Object Matrix toolset.

The functionality could allow users to perform tasks such as establish which files are being accessed most regularly, discover who in an organisation is storing what, create storage bandwidth and usage heat maps and track assets.

For disaster recovery and business continuity, Object Matrix’s replication technology can now be integrated into Avid, Adobe and Apple production workflows.

Object Matrix said that “tight integration” with Avid Interplay and Glookast Media Retriever would do away with the need to copy the Avid Interplay database to a remote location as MatrixStore moves the assets, metadata and project files so work can continue if the primary production site cannot.

During NAB Object Matrix will host a live demonstration of Avid Interplay disaster recovery workflows on the Avid stand.

“Doing more with your data is nothing new for our customers as we have evangelised MatrixStore as being more than just a file system since its inception in 2003,” said Object Matrix managing director Jonathan Morgan.

“MatrixStore has long been ‘data-aware’, by making statistical and audit information available through the MatrixStore API we are now enabling organisations to fully understand the value of their data, which is something that cannot be achieved with simple NAS or SAN solutions.”

The company is now offering a two petabyte bundle including disaster recovery and business continuity for Avid Interplay for £500,000.

Included in the bundle are two 1028 terabyte clusters, 10GigE connectivity, all Object Matrix plugins and 12 months of hardware and software support.
