ITN is moving its archive from LTO tape to near-line storage for instant access, and has invested in an extra 2 Petabytes of Object Matrix MatrixStore storage to gear up for the change.

The transition to near-line storage provides ITN with instant access to content, with an integrated and automated archive platform.

MatrixStore will replace all ITN’s existing tape archives, and will be located in an off-site location to “provide a highly resilient disaster recovery platform should access to content become unavailable at the Grays Inn Road location”.

“It is becoming increasingly important for us to have instant access to all our content, enabling us to reuse content or specific parts of our footage,” said ITN head of engineering Ian Auger. “MatrixStore ensures our content is protected, while still being easy to find, share and distribute.”
