HD facility On Sight has launched a service designed to help production companies which want to make HD programmes using file-based tapeless cameras.

Called HD Safe, the new offering will include planning, management, duplication and storage of digital content.

It will also help with insurance requirements, workflow planning and training, camera rental, daily back-ups, data archive and management as well as preparation for post.

Managing director Simon Craddock and his team spent six months preparing for launch. He said: “Most post companies do not have the capacity or equipment to offer this service.”

According to Craddock, the cost of the service will depend on individual requirements. “It is difficult to put a price on the offering,” he said. “Each workflow will require a different service and number of processes.”

HD Safe has been running in a beta-test capacity and was used for a recent AC/DC four Red camera shoot.
