Vice-president of unscripted already working with ESPN teams across EMEA

Sean Doyle is now responsible for sports entertainment commissioning across EMEA at Disney+, Broadcast had learned.
Broadcast understands he is already working with ESPN teams in the UK and across the wider region to identify premium sports entertainment content, with his extra responsibilities added when he was promoted to vice president of unscripted by EMEA content boss Angela Jain at the start of the year.
He is expected to elaborate on his sports entertainment commissioning strategy at the Edinburgh TV Festival next week.
Doyle’s remit expansion comes months after Jain pledged the streamer would grow its unscripted offering across EMEA, highlighting the prospect of unscripted formats from the Netherlands and observational documentaries and reality in the UK.

The news emerges in the wake of Disney+’ deal with The Overlap, although it is understood that collaborations were being discussed before he was handed his extra responsibilities.
Disney+’s deal will see it host The Overlap’s flagship Stick To Football show, with the streamer sponsoring it and extending the brand to Manchester United-focused series Stick to United.
New episodes of both programmes will continue to be published on The Overlap’s YouTube channel, with additional special episodes of both airing exclusively on Disney+ before appearing on YouTube.
Disney+’s previous sports-adjacent titles include Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story from North One. The indie is currently prepping a follow-up on the birth of the Cadillac F1 team.
Doyle’s upcoming unscripted slate include talent-led Castle Man (w/t) (Expectation) and The Rooneys (w/t) (Blast Films/Lorton Entertainment), feature doc Duffy (Stellify Media/Rare TV) and the revival of Blind Date (Stellify Media), marking the streamer’s first foray into formats.
Disney declined to comment.
