Brief Post-production on the eight-part series in which British officer Ross Poldark returns to his native Cornwall after the American War of Independence.

How it was done Head of sound Gareth Bull was lead mixer and worked with re-recording mixers Richard Straker and Jules Woods, along with ADR mixer James Drake. Bull said the beautiful sequences shot on the Cornish coast presented specific obstacles for sound.

The clifftops were prone to heavy winds, and the location mics picked up the sea wash. He used Waves plug-ins for dynamics, EQ and some early noise reduction, while iZotope Rx3 handled the more complex audio restoration tasks. Altiverb from Audio Ease was the facility’s ‘go to’ plug-in for reverbs.

Colourist Adam English graded the series.
