Broadcast hire firm Presteigne Charter has added to its portable stereoscopic 3D production options with a batch of new kit from Sony.

MPE-200 multi-image processors, LMD-2451TD 24-inch and 42-inch LCD monitors and HDC-P1 HD point-of-view cameras are included in the deal. The HDC-P1 camera will be used for 2D remote control positions and smaller-profile stereo side-by-side and mirror-rig configurations.

Presteigne will supply the kit through its locations in Singapore, Germany, Holland and the UK, and via partners in the US.

Business development manager, special projects, Steve Boland, said: “The purchase helps us broaden our support for end-to-end portable S3D camera systems, including system pre-calibration, image analysis and broadcast monitoring.”

Meanwhile, the company has been awarded a contract to provide technical facilities for both ITV and the BBC at the World Cup in South Africa.

Presteigne will be responsible for post, interactive and facilities for feeding live mixes back to London during the event.
