Tool claims to allow users to relight full scenes in real time, without requiring 3D reconstruction or isolated subjects
Beeble has launched SwitchLight 2.0, an upgrade for its AI-powered relighting tool.
SwitchLight allows VFX artists to generate full-scene PBR (Physically Based Rendering) maps directly from video, then relight them using HDRIs and any light, in real time via a web browser. It is also integrated into Beeble’s cloud virtual production platform. The results can be exported to Blender, Unreal, Nuke, and After Effects.
2.0 includes a new architecture, a model 10 times larger than its predecessor, and 13 times more training data. It now understands complete scenes, capturing higher detail than version 1.0; not only human subjects, but also props, furniture, vehicles, and architecture, including in complex environments or under extreme lighting conditions.
“Our goal has always been to make high-end VFX tools radically more accessible,” said Hoon Kim, CEO of Beeble. “With SwitchLight 2.0, we’re removing one of the biggest barriers in filmmaking—lighting. Now, anyone can shape light across an entire scene in post with studio-grade control.”
