RaceTech has commissioned three new HD trucks, which it will use to provide OB facilities for horseracing broadcaster Racing UK.

Systems integrator Megahertz will build the trucks, which will be delivered to RaceTech by March 2011, in time for Channel 4’s coverage of the Cheltenham Festival.

The bespoke vehicles will be capable of race and programme coverage, feeds to the stewards and commentators, and on-course closed-circuit TV production.

They will replace three of RaceTech’s existing fleet of six OB units.

Each vehicle will have hydraulically operated expanding sections and feature separate production areas for both RaceTech and Racing UK, alongside additional areas for VT and vision control.

Each will be capable of taking up to 10 Triax cameras and three radio cameras, 12 XDCam recorders plus a video server. Other technology will include a 96 x 96 router from Evertz, a Chyron HyperX3 2D/3D graphics platform and a Grass Valley Kayak vision mixer.
