Carl Grinter, producer, joint managing director and part owner of Red post-production, has quit the company after nine years.

His partner Stephen Luther, who is staying on as MD, told Broadcastthat Grinter left because of "differences in our plans for the future of the company".

Luther revealed that discussions about Grinter's future with Red had been going on for almost a year, and felt that "although the differences could have been worked through, it was amicably agreed between us that it was best for Carl to go".

Grinter was unavailable for comment as Broadcastwent to press but it is thought that no decision has been made about his future.

Grinter's shares have been bought up by the other shareholders, which include capital investment group 3i and the company's four directors.

While Red has been involved mostly in ads, promos and graphics in the past, recently it has undertaken more film work including S-Club's upcoming HD film Seeing Double.
