Trade body Screen Facilities Scotland has won a £10,000 prize for business development from Co-operative Development Scotland (CDS).

It follows a year of exploring how the combined efforts of Scottish-based film, television and commercials facilities companies could help to win lucrative contracts.

The award-winning entry was spearheaded by special effects firm Artem.

Business development manager Joanna Dewar Gibb said: “Winning this £10,000 prize has given us a much-needed boost to take this creative collaboration forward in a robust, meaningful way.

“We are delighted that CDS has recognised Screen Facilities Scotland with this award and can help us achieve our aims using the prize money and consultancy services together with CDS’ streamlined, business template for co-operative working.”

Joint initiatives from Screen Facilities Scotland have included producing five short trailers promoting the work of Scottish facilities companies which were shown at the 2011 Media Guardian Edinburgh Television Festival as well as taking exhibition space at The Production Show in London.

Screen Facilities Scotland is a lobbying group of Scottish-based film, television and commercials facilities companies.

CDS is a Scottish Enterprise subsidiary.
