Sony Professional Solutions Europe (PSE) is in consultation with an undisclosed number of employees, as the company prepares for a round of redundancies and restructuring.

Its core AV Media and Solutions business will be restructured for an increased emphasis on IT and cloud-based solutions.

Sony said its proposals, one of which involves scrapping its systems integration business in stadiums, were “designed to capitalise on opportunities and changes in its various B2B markets” and that it would “streamline in some areas to strengthen its operations”.

The manufacturer said its Digital Cinema, Video Security, Presentation and Communication businesses had shown strong growth and would receive increased investment.

Further investment is also planned in managed service businesses including Hawk-Eye and Pulse.

Sony Professional Solutions Europe vice-president Katsunori Yamanouchi (pictured) said: “Our customers are changing and Sony must too, to ensure the value we offer is relevant and differentiated.

“These proposals pave the way for Sony’s continuing strength and growth in our European B2B market sectors.”
