How does it work? Encoders are made available free to broadcasters, which in turn provide the Streambox encoding software to contributors. Contributors then capture their images and stream or upload them to Streambox Live Data centres. The broadcaster then pays for any content it downloads.

And the techy bit? It is based on Streambox’s proprietary ACT-L3 video encoding technologies, which enable high-quality SD and HD video signals to be compressed and streamed at low bandwidth. The software works with mobile phones, PCs and Macs.
