Malcolm Garret, designer of several 1977 seminal punk rock record sleeves, created the titles for The Punk Years, a 10-part history of punk rock produced by Free@last TV for Play UK. Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the birth of punk, the series features interviews with major players from the era, including John Lydon, the Stranglers and the Buzzcocks.The titles were created in Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects. Garrett created a template that could be changed for each episode so, while key sequences remain constant, they are cosmetically modified from show to show. The Punk Years airs on Play UK, initially on Monday and Tuesday (3 and 4 June) but will be repeated weekly from Saturday 8 June.
