Alain Andreoli has been replaced as Grass Valley president and chief executive by Tim Thorsteinson.

Andreoli, who joined Grass Valley in January 2011 to lead the company following its acquisition by Francisco Partners from Technicolor, has already stepped down and will leave the business at the end of January.

Tim Thorsteinson will take over as president and chief executive of the broadcast kit manufacturer, having previously held the same role from 1996 to 2002.

After leaving Grass Valley in 2002, Thorsteinson worked for Thomson, Leitch Technology and Harris Corp, where he was president of the company’s Broadcast Communications division.

Most recently he was chief executive of Enablence Technologies.

“We are pleased to have Tim Thorsteinson join Grass Valley at this pivotal point in the company’s transformation,” said David Golob, partner at Francisco Partners and chairman of the Grass Valley board.

“Tim’s in-depth industry knowledge and his proven track record of value creation will ensure Grass Valley’s continued success as an independent leader in the rapidly evolving broadcast infrastructure market.

“I would also like to thank Alain for all of his contributions in helping to re-establish Grass Valley as an independent company”.
