Brief Design the title sequence and maps for the 6 x 60-minute series about the back-packing adventures of diver Tom Daley and his best friend Sophie.
How it was done The conceptual approach for the graphics was based within a world of visual adventure, using vibrant colour, texture and contemporary animation techniques. The overall aesthetic takes the form of a multi-layered scrapbook or diary.
Animated maps feature stylised Polaroids that were created using real stills taken by the backpackers, which helped to emphasise the reality of their cultural encounters.
Alongside, and in the spirit of the maps, bespoke Aston straps were designed and animated to showcase the locale of each episode in the series.
All graphics were designed, animated and composited using After Effects.
