ARRI has introduced a new Alexa SXT camera system that includes a built-in video transmitter and WiFI capabilities.

The Alexa SXT W replaces the SXT Plus and SXT Studio models and features a low-latency HD video transmitter and WiFi radio that will help to increase efficiency for camera operators on set, the company said.

It will also make the camera smaller and lighter as there will be no need for an external transmitter.

The WiFi radio will allow for wireless colour management on set and wireless camera remote control with the ALEXA Web Remote. The wireless video uses technology from Amimon, with some hardware and software modifications.

“This significant upgrade affirms our commitment to the Alexa SXT camera platform,” said Stephan Schenk, managing director of ARRI Cine Technik and head of ARRI’s camera systems business unit.

“From the very beginning we have planned various upgrades for the ALEXA SXT platform and I am pleased to now announce a camera that allows a wireless workflow on set.”
