Makeover experts Trinny and Susannah prove themselves adept as actors in this partly improvised web-only mockumentary.

Notionally, they’re playing themselves, but in the parallel world of What They Did Next, the pair are down on their luck: fired by their agent, dumped as the faces of a leading cleaning product and resorting to flogging their wares at a golf and tennis trade show.

Clearly inspired by Curb Your Enthusiasm and Entourage - in a cameo, Neil Fox likens their agent (Nathan Barley’s Nicholas Burns) to Ari Gold - the duo show few signs of holding back in the 16 x 6-minute series.

Drinking like fishes, exposing bits of their bodies, bitching about each other and swearing like squaddies - this isn’t the slick TV presenting team viewers are used to, and we’re invited to guess where reality ends and fiction begins. It’s all an in-joke and risks accusations of a vanity project, but T5M Studios is aiming high: after four weeks on NBC-owned ivillage.co.uk, it’s releasing the mockumentary worldwide and has made it available on iTunes.
