Overbury is expected to award systems integration contracts to TSL and Mediasmiths after securing an £18m deal to fit out Salford University’s new MediaCityUK building.

The EU tendered contract covers the design, procurement, installation and commissioning of the large majority of the specialist equipment within the University’s four floors in Salford Quays.

TSL will be sub-contracted to provide systems integration work for the 100,00 sq ft facility while Mediasmiths is being lined up to deliver media asset management and post-production workflows.

Tasks for the companies will include the installation of audio visual equipment, the building of TV and Radio studios and the sound proofing and acoustic treatment for the facilities.

The University of Salford has a partnership agreement with the BBC that will include new joint courses – including a BSc in Digital Broadcast Technology - as well as enterprise training for undergraduate students and student placements within the BBC.
