VI Rental’s Bristol office has taken delivery of six VariCam LTs, giving the hire firm the largest UK fleet of the Panasonic cameras.

The VariCam LT can capture both 4K (4096 x 2160) and UHD (3840 x 2160). Panasonic said VI’s cameras would be used by natural history and “mainstream” productions.

VI Rental hire manager Nick Hill said: “We have been very impressed with what we’ve seen of the VariCam LT, not only does it offer outstanding image quality that allows you to achieve your ‘vision’, but the advanced grading tools, in-camera dailies and proxy recording capabilities are a true revolution in streamlining workflow.”

Panasonic UK group manager Nigel Wilkes added: “VI Rental has been an excellent partner for Panasonic VariCam.

“They held a large fleet of the original HD VariCam in the early 2000s and, as a result, played a significant part in its success, particularly in natural history.

“The company is now backing the new generation of the VariCam and has a strong belief that the camera can add real value to both natural history and drama production.”
