Manchester sound specialist Hullabaloo Studios has moved into video post-production with the opening of a facility in Altrincham.

The company has spent£300,000 on the move and will offer six Final Cut Pro edit suites, a Smoke and Combustion software for graphics.

It has also taken on two full-time senior editors, Danny Brown from 422 and Claire Richardson from Flix Facilities, and will use a number of freelancers including Pete Kidd, formerly employed by Cosgrove Hall.

“We are specialists in animation and this area of the market is really booming at the moment,” said managing director Darren Cox. “We have a good client base in sound and these clients are now coming to us for video.” He added: “We plan to expand the video side again within six months because demand is really strong.”

The company plans to develop a shooting stage with make-up, showers and changing facilities over the next few months.

Hullabaloo was set up 12 years ago by Darren Cox and Simon Hall. Recent work includes Roary the Racing Car for Chapman Entertainment, Bob the Builder for Hit, Postman Pat for Cosgrove Hall, this season's radio advertising campaign for Manchester City and the new multilingual interactive web site for Astra Zenecca.

The Smoke was sold and installed by reseller XTFX.
