NAB 2016: Details are starting to emerge about the new UHD trucks that are being built by outside broadcast company NEP Visions.

In November 2015 Visions lost equipment and trucks worth “tens of millions of pounds” including a large inventory of cameras, lenses and live slow-motion replay servers, as well as six OB vehicles.

While some HD units have been borrowed from other parts of the NEP group as an interim measure, new trucks are currently under construction including four that are UHD/HD switchable.

Installed on-board all four will be a Platinum IP3 router from Imagine Communications that will provide signal distribution, audio multiplexing and de-multiplexing, multi-viewing and test and measurement, along with routing capabilities.

The Platinum IP3 is designed to work in a hybrid SDI-IP environment, with transparent operations across the two signal fabrics.

Also included in the build for the four new trucks are Selenio MCP units, fortified with HD-UHD up- and down-conversion capabilities, and Selenio 6800+, Selenio X100 and Selenio X50 modular units for signal processing, monitoring and distribution.

Imagine Communications revealed the details at NAB in Las Vegas this week.

Mathias Eckert, vice president Europe, Middle East and Africa, Imagine Communications, said: “Because we have been developing our solutions over many years we can deliver extremely mature and proven solutions, which means we can work with leaders like NEP as the go-to company for mobile production across any format and any technology.

“These new trucks are set to be the industry leaders for some time to come, and it is great to know that Imagine technology is at the heart of them.”
