Wowza Media Systems has released the latest version of its media delivery software platform.

Wowza Media Server provides any-screen coverage for Adobe Flash, Microsoft Silverlight, iPhone, iPad, Android, other smartphones and tablets, smart TVs, and IPTV/OTT set-top boxes.

Version three of the server includes integrated live adaptive bitrate (ABR) transcoding, which Wowza said reduces bandwidth requirements by up to 80%. It also provides support for multiple studio-approved DRM platforms with secure streaming with on-the-fly encryption for both live and on-demand content to any screen.

“Wowza Media Server 3 delivers the essential functionality and features that are must-haves for our business: module development flexibility, multidevice versatility, and on-the-fly security integrated with third-party studio-approved DRM platforms,” said vice president of technology at Vivendi Mobile Entertainment Julien Marusi.
