MIPCOM: Shiver-made ITV daytime format May the Best House Win has been commissioned by broadcasters in Canada and Belgium.
Canada’s Shaw Television has ordered a 13-episode series for production by Canadian factual specialist Proper Television. The show will debut on HGTV Canada channel in late 2012.
In Belgium, the local arm of Endemol will make two four-part series for commercial network VTM, which will launch in the autumn.
Separately, Paris-based ITV Studios France has also just completed production on a pilot for national broadcaster France2. A local version has already been produced in Spain by ITV Studios Spain for Antena 3.
ITV Studios International managing director Paul Buccieri said: “We have a strong history of launching daytime formats in the UK and rolling them out internationally. Shows like Come Dine With Me and Four Weddings have been produced around the world, and in many instances have graduated from daytime to primetime and gone on to become returning hits for local broadcasters.
“May the Best House Win is equally versatile and we hope this fantastic show will become another high volume staple for our broadcast clients.”
The format sees four very different homeowners take turns to host a tour of their homes. They give their frank opinions and rate each home, and hope that their house comes out on top.
