Adam Jacobs to leave DNI

Discovery Networks International executive producer Adam Jacobs is leaving the company after more than 10 years, while VP programming for Nordics and Benelux Paul Edwards is also exiting.

Jacobs is a former Hallmark Channel acquisitions executive, who worked as Discovery’s director of programming for Western Europe for five years, before moving into executive producing and co-productions.

He has been an EP for production and development in factual at DNI for the past year. He is leaving the company this week, and looking for new opportunities.

Jacobs’ acquisition credits include An Idiot Abroad, Running Wild with Bear Grylls, Auction Hunters and Ross Kemp: Extreme Worlds.

He also executive produced Blink Films’ Nazi Secret Files, Woodcut Media’s The Krays: The Prison Years (pictured) and Roughcut TV’s Churchill & Me with Hugh Dennis.

Paul Edwards is also leaving DNI.

The former Channel 5 programme acquisitions exec has been at the company since 2005, overseeing EMEA and lifestyle and entertainment, and more recently serving as VP programming for Nordics and Benelux.

The departures are understood to have been agreed some time ago, and are not connected to DNI’s recently announced restructure, which has seen president of content Marjorie Kaplan leave the business.

Broadcast understands the company is still working through its plans for the merger of its London-based international content business and UK division under Susanna Dinnage.

It is unclear if jobs will be cut in the restructure, and if so, how many.
