Bectu is challenging ITV Studios’ proposal to cut 28 jobs at the Manchester post and studio crewing company 3sixtymedia.

Following an initial meeting last week, the media and entertainment union is preparing counter-proposals to redundancies and hopes to secure management’s agreement to submit them towards the end of November.

24 of 47 roles within 3sixtymedia’s Post-Production department and four of nine jobs within its Studio Crewing division are at risk.

A Bectu spokesperson said: “We are clear in our belief that the number of proposed redundancies can be reduced if management is willing to be inventive about the way the business is run.

“The answer to the challenges is not contraction but investment. We should be doing everything, in an expanding sector, to avoid the loss of skills and talent.”

An ITV Studios spokesperson said: “Since we established 3sixtymedia in 2000 production requirements have evolved significantly. As a result, we are reviewing the business to better reflect changing demands.”

ITV Studios owns 90% of the Salford-based facilities firm with the remaining 10% held by BBC Studios and Post Production.

3sixtymedia’s credits include Midwinter of the Spirit (pictured), Coronation Street Live: Uncovered and You Saw Them Here First, all for ITV.
