Broadcast systems designer Tim Burton and sales executive Martin Riley have quit ERA and teamed up with former Gearhouse Broadcast service engineer John Currie to launch their own systems integrator and reseller business.

Magenta Broadcast will use Burton’s background in production, post and asset management, plus Currie’s skills in live broadcasting, to help media companies make the move to IP.

Burton, who has taken on the role of managing director, told Broadcast: “We think we’ve found a gap in the market for a consultative, trusted adviser that offers procurement, engineering, design and support, but looks at each project based on its outcomes rather than simply replacing individual elements of a traditional workflow or infrastructure with IT systems.

“Our aim is to bring the benefits of standardisation to media companies that don’t want to be technology companies.”

Riley takes on the role of operations manager, while Currie is the technical director.
