Evolutions has hired Hyperactive Broadcast’s Phil Vincent to spearhead its fixed-rig camera division.

As part of the strategy, the location services team will relocate from Evolutions’ Berners Street base to new premises in north London, where it will hold kit and build and test rigs.

Vincent will become general manager of the unit, which supplies a tapeless system - known as Luther - that captures high- and low-res versions of each camera’s output for logging and editing.

“Luther’s workflow eliminates the need to ingest tape and provides rock-solid redundancy and archive,” said Evolutions managing director Simon Kanjee.

“This will be the first time a dedicated person has looked after it and our intention is to expand the unit.”

Vincent, who worked for Evolutions as an engineer before joining Hyperactive, will start his new role in January.
