A 4K version of NewTek’s IP-based TriCaster production system will be launched at NAB.

TC1 can be used for 4K (UHD) switching, live streaming, recording, data-driven graphics, virtual sets and social media publishing.

It supports 16 external inputs of up to 4K UHD 60p resolution and is powered by NewTek’s NDI networking technology for IP-based workflows.

TriCaster TC1 also offers studio-grade Skype TX channels for adding remote video guests to live shows.

The company said that because the system is software based and IP native there is no need to convert to or from baseband video.

NewTek president and chief technology officer Dr. Andrew Cross added; “IP enables so many new ways of working and greatly simplifies infrastructure. It also makes things like live streaming even easier. I can’t imagine anyone buying a product today that isn’t capable of delivering content to all of the places the viewers want to watch.”

Users can stream content directly to Facebook Live, YouTube Live, Microsoft Azure, Periscope, Twitch and other streaming sites, or deliver video clips directly to social media sites from the TC1 interface.

The TC1 includes built-in video servers, macro automation, chroma-keying, ISO-recording and replay capabilities.

SDI input is possible via an onboard I/O. Users can configure the number of physical SDI connections with the NewTek Connect connectivity and productivity products.

Pricing for the TriCaster TC1 starts at $14,995 (£12,000)
