IBC 2015: Six UK media technology start-ups have been picked by the DTG to exhibit at IBC after taking part in a Dragon’s Den-style competition last night.

The DTG Television Innovation Awards, which are sponsored by UK Trade & Investment, aim to promote SMEs in the broadcasting and media technology sector.

Nine shortlisted finalists each had three minutes to pitch to a panel of industry judges, followed by two minutes of questioning.

DTG chairman and UK final judge David Docherty said: “The best of them were tackling some of the biggest challenges in the industry in fresh and innovative ways that could be massively beneficial to UK PLC.”

They will exhibit on the DTG’s stand (Hall 5, stand A17) at IBC in September.

DTG chief executive officer Richard Lindsay-Davies added: “It was inspiring to see so many great start-ups competing in this year’s DTG Television Innovation Awards, and we are confident that our IBC Finalists will be a great showcase for British innovation at IBC in September.”

The judges for the UK Final were David Docherty, chairman of the DTG, Sylvain Thevenot, managing director of Netgem, Emma Jones, director of content acquisition at Lebara, Nigel Walley, managing director of Decipher and Phillip White, technology specialist at UKTI.
