Canon’s XF305 and XF300 HD camcorders have been added to the BBC’s list of approved HD cameras, allowing them to be used to produce shows for the broadcaster’s HD channels.

Both were initially approved for use by independent productions in June 2010, but they can now also be used by internal BBC productions.

Director of professional marketing at Canon Europe, Kieran Magee, said: “The XF300-series was specifically designed to offer exceptional image quality and seamless workflow compatibility for all sorts of professional uses.

“Canon worked with many broadcasters during development of these camcorders, and the adoption of these cameras by the BBC reflects our commitment to imaging excellence and meeting our customers’ needs.”
