Princess Productions is making use of Watch Folder, a new innovation within Forbidden Technologies’ FORcene cloud-based editing platform, for production of Must Be The Music which starts this week.

The Watch Folder feature sees chosen file locations scanned automatically based on a time variable.

Once new files are found it compresses and uploads them automatically into a specified FORscene account, allowing a single FORscene Load computer to find files from different locations and deliver them to different accounts.

Other features include duplication detection and account management controls.

Princess Productions post-production manager Paul Jones said: “FORscene provided fast access to material for remote viewing and approval whilst on location. Its advanced search tools have given the production team the ability to streamline their off-line process and maximise the efficiency in post. With around 10,000 files already uploaded, the watch folder automation in FORscene Server has radically changed our workflow.”

Must be the Music is a talent search show for Sky 1 and Sky 1 HD that focuses on songwriters.

The production team shot footage using both Sony HDCam tape-based and Panasonic P2 tapeless cameras.

Rushes were digitised into Avid Unity storage before the FORscene Server automatically compressed and uploaded material for logging and rough-cut editing.

FORscene provided access to rushes through a web-browser, enabling all members of the production team to monitor and work on content during location shooting.
