Avid has struck a deal to exclusively develop and commercialise a range of dialogue and audio analysis tools from Nexidia.

Nexidia provides search and analysis products for a host of industries including financial services, healthcare and government.

As a result of the licensing deal Nexidia’s media and entertainment products, including Dialogue Search and Illuminate with Comply, QC, and Align modules will be integrated with Avid’s MediaCentral Platform for release next year.

Avid said the benefits to its customers would include easier search of relevant source material and the increased automation of content tagging and checks to make sure finished programmes contain the right language tracks, audio description and subtitles.

Avid will also license Nexidia’s phonetic indexing technology Search Grid to other developers of media applications.

And it will continue to support the integration of Nexidia products and technologies with third-party solutions.

The Nexidia products that are now available as Avid products are:

  • Avid Dialogue Search
  • Avid Illuminate
  • Avid Comply
  • Avid QC
  • Avid Align
  • Avid Search Grid

Avid said an update regarding Avid’s ScriptSync and PhraseFind options for Media Composer will be announced early next month.

“We are thrilled to offer the Nexidia media products to the media and entertainment industries,” said Avid chief executive, chairman and president Louis Hernandez.

“The addition of Nexidia’s products to the MediaCentral Platform demonstrates our commitment to giving customers greater choices and new levels of creativity and efficiency.”

In September last year, Nexidia, which is headquartered in Atlanta in the US, received a Technology and Engineering Achievement Emmy award for Phonetic Indexing and Timing.
