BBC MediaArc Bristol, part of BBC Resources, helped to unlock the secrets of prehistoric North America for Wild New World, a six-part documentary from the BBC's Natural History Unit (NHU).

Using the latest scientific research, filming techniques and computer-generated imagery, the series recreates life 13,000 years ago when people first entered the vast, unexplored world of Ice Age North America. Wild New World took two years to produce and involved a team of 14 designers and animators led by design director Alisa Robbins.

Working with scientists' drawings and the knowledge of the producers, the team created models of creatures such as the woolly mammoth and the sabre-tooth tiger, which were then combined with real-life footage. The landmark series airs on BBC 2 and Discovery from 3 October.
