Apple TV has greenlit a Jennifer Garner-starring thriller from ITV Studios-owned Tomorrow Studios.

Guilty Creatures is based on Mikita Brottman’s true crime book Guilty Creatures: Sex, God, and Murder in Tallahassee, Florida, which delves into the psyche of a torrid romance and subsequent act of murder between two young, adulterous but God-fearing lovers.

The story explores their complex lives and the emotional toll of living as killers for 18 years, set against a backdrop of the Florida panhandle.

Ozark star Garner will executive produce, with Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya) directing.

Stuart Zicherman (The Americans) is showrunner and EP on the series, which is being adapted by Sarah DeLappe (Bodies Bodies Bodies).

The show has been developed via Tomorrow Studios’ first-look deals with Garner’s banner Alma Margo and Gillespie’s Fortunate Jack Productions.

Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements and Alissa Bachner EP for ITVS-backed Tomorrow Studios, along with Garner through Alma Margo.

Showrunner Zicherman is also EP alongside DeLappe, Gillespie, Annie Marter and Brottman.

Guilty Creatures joins other recent Apple TV commissions including James Marsden-starring Disavowed, an untitled half-hour comedy led by Elizabeth Banks (The Miniature Wife) and a French-language thriller starring Diane Kruger and Raphaël Personnaz.
