Marco Chimenz exits French owner of companies including UK’s Vertigo Films and Italy’s Fabula Pictures

Marco Chimenz, co-managing director of France’s Federation Studios, has stepped down from the Sherlock & Daughter and Around the World in 80 Days production group.
Chimenz had been in the role since 2023, running the Paris-based outfit with founder Pascal Breton and co-managing director Lionel Uzan.
Federation – owner of more than 30 production companies including Britannia producer Vertigo Films and Italy’s Fabula Pictures – will not replace Chimenz.

Uzan will instead take on a sole managing director role, working alongside chief exec Breton.
Chimenz, who departed on 8 April, was previously co-chief exec at ITV Studios-owned Cattleya, which has been behind hits including Gomorrah, Suburra and ZeroZeroZero.
Breton said: “We warmly thank Marco for his valuable contribution to the group’s international growth and wish him every success in his future professional endeavors.”
Chimenz added: “These two and a half years have been a very interesting experience and a unique chance to work with a dynamic, young, and motivated team of executives and producers, to whom I wish all the best.”
Federation operates across drama, kids & family, documentary and films, with 35 companies located in Paris, LA, Rome, Madrid, London, Berlin, Cologne and Tel-Aviv. It was exploring its M&A options in late 2024, as revealed by Broadcast International, but nothing has yet emerged.
The group’s slate has ranged over recent years from English-language series such as Brendan Foley’s Sherlock & Daughter for The CW and HBO Max and Around the World in 80 Days for the BBC, to Bardot for France 2 and Lucky Luke for Disney+.
