The Chosen Adventures tracks two children’s lives after they meet Jesus of Nazareth
Prime Video is expanding its Biblical scripted series output with a shortform animation exploring the life of Jesus from the team behind The Chosen.
The Chosen Adventures is written by Ryan Swanson and produced by Dallas Jenkins’ prodco 5&2 Studios, alongside Amazon MGM Studios.
The 14 x 11-minute series will debut from 17 October on Prime Video in North America, the UK, LatAm and sub-Saharan Africa, as well as in Australia and New Zealand.
The adventure comedy tracks the life of a nine-year-old girl, her best friend and a talking sheep as they meet Jesus of Nazareth, who helps them change their view on the world.
Swanson is attached as showrunner and is also exec producing, alongside Jenkins, while voice cast includes Paul Walter Hauser, Yvonne Orji and Jordin Spinks.
The deal comes after Amazon’s Prime Video last month picked up fellow biblical drama Joseph of Egypt to series, with Bridgerton’s Adam Hashmi set to star.
5&2 is also behind that show via the first-look deal it struck with Amazon MGM Studios earlier this year.
Jenkins launched 5&2 following the success of The Chosen, which explores the life and work of Jesus. The series is into its fifth season and was initially produced via crowdfunding, followed by deals with streamers including Netflix and Prime Video, with Lionsgate handling global distribution.
Joseph of Egypt is the latest biblical drama to get greenlit in the US, with broadcaster Fox confirming The Faithful for its 2025-26 season. The History Channel also recently ordered an unscripted series exploring the works of The Bible, returning the network to the subject of one of its most popular scripted shows, The Bible.
Prime Video also has fellow Bible-based drama House of David on its slate, which was extended into a second season in March.
