Satirist will front this year’s October ceremony

Comedian Munya Chawawa has been lined up to present the Broadcast Digital Awards 2021, celebrating the most creative and innovative digital content from across the UK.

Chawawa is best known for his social media sketches and regular appearances on The Last Leg, Bamous, Don’t Hate the Playaz and Dating No Filter. In addition to writing on Charlie Brooker’s Death to 2020 last year, Chawawa’s fictional drill rapper ‘Unknown P’ recently signed a deal with Atlantic Records, with the debut single Piers Morgan being played on Good Morning Britain.

The Broadcast Digital Awards 2021 ceremony takes place on 6 October at The Brewery in London. Some 18 shows are competing across Best Lockdown Programme – Comedy, Entertainment & Scripted, Documentary and Popular Factual after The Ranganation, Springtime on the Farm and Dim Ysgol won in similar categories at the Broadcast Awards in May.

Last year, Firecracker was named the first Best Multiplatform Production Company and the category returns this year with six indies competing - Air TV, Barcroft Studios, Fulwell73 Productions, Monkey Kingdom, Strawberry Blond TV and Sunset+Vine.
