Buccaneer Media thriller picks up story straight after debut run’s culmination

The Crow Girl

Jeanette Kilburn (Eve Myles) in The Crow Girl

Buccaneer Media’s psychological thriller The Crow Girl is returning to Paramount+ UK and Ireland for a second series.

The drama will pick up where it left off, with Bristol police detective Jeanette Kilburn having ended her marriage and found herself with the enigmatic psychologist Dr. Sophia Craven.

Kilburn’s hunt for the killers of young male asylum seekers takes a turn when a mummified body is discovered in a church wall, connected to a separate body in a freezer, with Craven suspecting one of her patients could be responsible.

Returning to their roles are Eve Myles (Hijack, Keeping Faith), Katherine Kelly (Mr Bates vs The Post Office, The Long Shadow), Clara Rugaard (Black Mirror, The Rising) and Victoria Hamilton (The Crown, COBRA).

The series was ordered by deputy chief content officer for Paramount Sebastian Cardwell and commissioning editor Paul Testar.

“The first season captivated audiences with its bold storytelling and standout performances, and we can’t wait to see where the team takes the story next,” said Cardwell.

The exec producers include Buccaneer’s Tony Wood, screenwriter Milly Thomas, star Eve Myles, Federico Ambroshini, Niclas Salomonsson and Erik Axl Sund. Charles Martin is confirmed to direct, and Debs Pisani produces.

Series two of The Crow Girl is produced in association with and distributed by ITV Studios.

It will commence filming in Bristol later this year and the second series will be available exclusively on Paramount+ in the UK and Ireland.
