The film is an intimate portrait of the most decorated men’s Grand Slam champion in tennis history

Prime Video has released a trailer for feature-length documentary NOVAK DJOKOVIC: The Wolf in Winter.
The film explores the journey of Djokovic, who began playing on the hardscrabble courts of Serbia and rose to become the most accomplished champion in the history of men’s tennis.
The documentary has been made by Connor Schell’s Words + Pictures, Sadoux Productions, and director Jason Hehir (The Last Dance), and will premiere on Prime Video on 20 August in more than 240 countries and territories.
Novak Djokovic has won 24 Grand Slam titles, which is the most in men’s history. He has had over 1,100 career singles match wins, won an Olympic gold medal, and has spent a record 428 weeks as the world No. 1.
He’s also one of the most complex and polarising figures in modern athletics, says Prime Video, who descibes Djokovic as “a champion whose greatness is undeniable, but whose story has never been fully understood”.
NOVAK DJOKOVIC: The Wolf in Winter tells Djokovic’s story, from being born in war-torn Serbia and growing up amid conflict and financial hardship as his family sacrificed everything to support his tennis career, to bursting onto the professional scene, where he was met with resistance, perceived as an unwelcome intruder disrupting the Federer-Nadal rivalry.
Through exclusive behind-the-scenes access at major tournaments, his intense training regiment, and moments at home with family and friends, the film offers a revealing look at Djokovic’s world.
It features interviews with Djokovic himself, his wife Jelena, his family, and leading figures from the world of tennis—including Rafael Nadal, Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, Boris Becker, and Jim Courier, as well as media personalities Mary Carillo, Patrick McEnroe, Howard Bryant, Chris Clarey, and Matthew Futterman.
Prime Video says the documentary paints a portrait of a complicated figure whose difficult moments are inseparable from the fire that made him a champion.
The film is directed by Jason Hehir and executive produced by Connor Schell, Libby Geist, Alexa Conway, Aaron Cohen, and Nick Eisenberg of Words + Pictures; Jason Hehir of Little Room Films; Sadoux Kim of Sadoux Productions; and Jeff Blackburn, Alexandra Dell, and William P. Zagger.
