BT Media and Broadcast and RRsat Global Communications Network (RRsat) have agreed a five-year preferred supplier agreement that could be worth up to £10m to each company.

The non-exclusive deal will see RRsat give BT access to its satellite platforms and IP streaming services while BT will allow RRsat access to the BT switch in London and dedicated bandwidth for short term event coverage.

Each company has agreed to bring between £5-£10million of additional business to the other party.

BT Media and Broadcast director of global sales and marketing, Mark Wilson-Dunn said: “This is an important step towards the formation of a global ecosystem to support the creation, movement and monetisation of content.”

RRsat’s global network provides distribution coverage to more than 550 channels using over 50 satellite platforms in more than 150 countries.
