Canon has entered the production display market with the launch of the DP-V3010, a 30-inch reference display with a resolution of 4,096 x 2,560 pixels.

Canon said the display had been specifically designed for colour grading and high quality 4K video production.

Canon Europe director of professional marketing Kieran Magee said: “The new DP-V3010 represents an exciting step for Canon that complements our existing 4K portfolio.

“We’ve listened carefully to the needs of the market throughout the development of the display to deliver an exceptional product suited to even the highest quality productions.

“It offers incredible accuracy, reliability and flexibility and combined with our Cinema EOS cameras, provides an excellent input-to-output solution for use in a wide range of scenarios.”

The display is powered by a custom-developed image processor designed and manufactured by Canon.

A 10-bit panel driver works with the processor to enable the display of 1,024 gradation levels for each RGB colour.

The display supports DCI-P3, as well as ITU-R BT.709, EBU and SMPTE-C and the Adobe RGB colour space. It also supports playback at 24p, 23.98p, 60p, 50p.

The DP-V3010 includes a control unit that can be used on a desktop or installed in a 19-inch equipment rack.

It is expected to ship in Europe in March for £29,000.
