Comedy producer Phil Clarke has come up with an ingenious way of delivering a character's point of view in a sitcom - he's putting cameras on the actors heads, writes John Oates.

Following on from the boulder-cam, jockey-cam and ant-cam, 'headcam' is a technique being used to record a new sitcom for Channel 4 called POV. Clarke admits the concept is 'quite demanding' for an audience but reckons people will soon get used to it: 'It looks fresh and different even if you are going over familiar territory. Admittedly it is harder to watch for the audience as there's no establishing shot, but it's a new way to tell a story.' The only real problem with using head-mounted cameras, said Clarke, is that there is a danger the actor may hurt his neck if he moves his head too quickly. POV will air on C4 next year.
