Channel 4 has acquired Australian sex comedy Spreadsheet, starring Katherine Parkinson.

Produced by Northern Pictures, the indie responsible for ABC’s Love on the Spectrum autism dating format, Spreadsheet was created by Kala Ellis and Darren Ashton and marks the former’s debut as a writer/creator.

It was acquired for C4 by head of acquisitions Nick Lee, with ITV Studios handling the sale.

The eight-part series stars Parkinson as put-upon, divorced mother-of-two Lauren who is looking for sex without commitment. With the help of her best friend Alex, Lauren develops a spreadsheet database of customised sex options, but doesn’t anticipate the slew of needy men that result from the project.

Parkinson leads a cast that includes Rowan Witt, Robbie Magisiva and Zahra Newman.

“[Spreadsheet] has a distinctive, strong voice which we know will really resonate with our audience,” said Lee.

It will premiere on C4 on Wednesday 18 May and be made available as a boxset on All 4.
