Warner Music UK (WMUK) has appointed Stefan Demetriou to the newly created position of vice president content and formats strategy.

Demetriou, who will report to WMUK chairman and chief executive Max Lousada, will be responsible for creating original audio-visual content with WMUK artists and brand partners as well as working with media brands across TV, film and digital platforms.

As well as developing opportunities with co-production partners, Demetriou has been tasked with overseeing Warner Music’s production company Electric Light Studios (ELS).

He will also maintain his existing responsibilities for managing the visual content, music video, TV promotion and distribution for all artist campaigns for Parlophone and Warner Bros. Records UK.

Demetriou previously held the role of vice president of TV promotion and broadcast development for Warner Music UK. His credits include executive-producing documentaries and concert films such as Blur: No Distance Left To Run and Gorillaz: Demon Days.

Lousada said: “Now more than ever, visual content connected to music has real currency and no one is better placed than Stefan to capitalise on that momentum.

“This is an area with tremendous growth potential and to have someone of his calibre leading our efforts is a huge asset for our business and a best-in-class resource for our artists, labels and brand partners.”

Meanwhile, former senior TV promotions manager Kate Hiscox has assumed the role of head of TV promotion at Parlophone and Warner Bros. Records.
