Discreet has unveiled the real-time digital grading and colour correction system that will replace its Colossus product, writes Will Strauss.

Lustre, a digital colour-correction technology operating on non-proprietary computer hardware, was developed in conjunction with Colourfront - the same Hungarian company that developed Colossus - and is designed for use on digital intermediates. It offers colourists and colour timers an environment for interactive colour correction sessions where they can collaborate directly with directors of photography, cinematographers and film-makers to adjust the colours and look of a film, from the most subtle of adjustments to larger colour and lighting effects.

When the new offering hits the market the two companies will "cease to market Colossus", according to Discreet managing director, Europe Patrick Jocelyn.
