Edifis has re-engineered the disk infrastructure on its Finaliser colour corrector so that it can grade and ingest material at the same time.

The extended capabilities are down to a new sub-system known as Trax which is capable of handling multiple streams of uncompressed HD and 2K acquisition and playback simultaneously.

“This Raided infrastructure has been developed with the assistance of customers who are wishing to push the throughput of the grading system,” explained managing director Philip Hill.

“The arrival of digital acquisition and the desire to upload new rushes quickly requires ingest to occur during the grading of other material.[By working this way] the creative process flowing between DoP, editor and colourist is released from the restrictions of technology.”

Finaliser is used for both SD and HD television drama, episodics and films.
